MEET YOUR DOCTOR & TEAM IN MERRILLVILLE
Choosing dental implants is as much about who you trust as it is about the teeth themselves. At Great Lakes Implant Center, Dr. Timothy Kamp blends the precision of a Purdue-trained mechanical engineer with the warmth of a local family dentist who treats every patient like a neighbor.
One Doctor From Start to Finish: You will never be passed between rotating surgeons and corporate treatment coordinators. Dr. Kamp personally plans, places, and restores your smile in Merrillville.

D.M.D. (Midwestern University) | M.S. & B.S. Mechanical Engineering & Biology (Purdue) | Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD)
FROM PURDUE ENGINEERING TO RESTORATIVE DENTISTRY
"When you understand both the biology of healing bone and the mechanical engineering of how teeth absorb force, you stop guessing. Every implant and every tooth is designed with purpose."
Long before Dr. Timothy Kamp placed his first dental implant, he trained to solve complex structural and biological challenges at Purdue University, where he earned bachelor's degrees in both Mechanical Engineering and Biology, followed by a Master of Science degree at Purdue University Indianapolis.
He went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) from Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine in Downers Grove, Illinois. Realizing that traditional implant dentistry often forced patients to bounce between separate surgical offices, restorative clinics, and distant commercial laboratories, Dr. Kamp built Great Lakes Implant Center in Merrillville around a different vision: complete care under one roof.
Today, Dr. Kamp combines 3D cone-beam CT imaging, digital facial scanning, 5-axis CNC milling, and hand-layered ceramic artistry right inside our Merrillville clinic so every patient receives a custom smile engineered for lifelong comfort and strength.

In-House Lab Collaboration: Because Dr. Kamp works steps away from our master lab technicians, your implant angles, bite mechanics, and ceramic shading are designed together as one unified blueprint.
FELLOWSHIP, TEACHING & CONTINUING EDUCATION
Implant dentistry evolves rapidly. Dr. Kamp has dedicated hundreds of hours to advanced surgical and prosthodontic training, earning credentials held by only a small fraction of dentists nationwide while teaching fellow clinicians 1-on-1.
01
Earned by fewer than 6 percent of dentists across the United States, the FAGD designation requires more than 500 hours of rigorous continuing dental education and passing a comprehensive national fellowship examination.
02
Beyond caring for his own patients in Merrillville, Dr. Kamp mentors fellow dentists 1-on-1 in surgical implant placement, digital treatment planning, and full-arch restorative workflows.
03
Active member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID), Chicago Dental Society (CDS), American Dental Association (ADA), Indiana Dental Association (IDA), and Northwest Indiana Dental Society.
LIFE OUTSIDE THE CLINIC
When he is not designing smiles at Great Lakes Implant Center, Dr. Kamp is happiest at home with his wife, their four children, three cats, and their family dog.
"Whether I am milling a custom zirconia bridge in our dental lab, running rough-sawn lumber through my sawmill, or pulling sourdough out of the oven for my kids, I love the satisfaction of crafting something by hand and doing it right."
An engineer at heart even on weekends, Dr. Kamp loves working with his hands. He runs his own sawmill and CNC router for custom woodworking projects and enjoys spending time in the garage restoring and working on cars.
Because he believes some of life's best moments happen around the dinner table, Dr. Kamp loves firing up his outdoor oven to make wood-fired pizzas and baking fresh, naturally leavened sourdough bread for family and friends.
